13,843 backpacks delivered

to low-income children in 2009!

Their future...it's in the bag!

In four Bay Area counties, 227,826 children are enrolled in the California Free or Reduced Lunch Program. In 2009, together with our community, we helped 13,843 of these children by providing them with a new backpack containing the tools they need to succeed.

to host a 2010 Back-to-School Drive

This program operates much like the Holiday Wish Program; wish cards are sent to host companies, groups, organizations or schools to be displayed on our colorful posters. Individuals have two ways to participate: take a card and shop for a new backpack and fill it with the recommended school supplies or provide funds either by mail or online and we will purchase the items. We collect and sort the backpacks, and distribute them to low-income students via teachers and school service agencies.

Social service agencies or any individuals seeking assistance from the Family Giving Tree should check out our Agencies page before contacting our office.
