17,900 backpacks delivered
to low-income children in 2010!
Their future...it's in the bag!
In the four Bay Area counties FGT serves, 239,955 children are enrolled in the Federal Free or Reduced Price Lunch Program. In 2010, together with our community, we helped 17,900 of these children by providing them with a new backpack containing the tools they need to succeed.
Registration begins February 2011
This program operates much like the Holiday Wish Program; wish cards are sent to host companies, groups, organizations or schools to be displayed on our colorful posters. Individuals have two ways to participate: take a card and shop for a new backpack and fill it with the recommended school supplies or provide funds either by mail or online and we will purchase the items. We collect and sort the backpacks, and distribute them to low-income students via teachers and school service agencies.
Social service agencies or any individuals seeking assistance from the Family Giving Tree should check out our Agencies page before contacting our office.
