2016 Back-to-School Drive Sets New Giving Record

The total of 37,000 backpacks, fully loaded with much-needed school supplies such as pads, pencils and rulers, sets a new record for the Family Giving Tree.  FGT founder and executive director Jennifer Cullenbine said, "It's clear that the Bay Area community responds to student needs regarding Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math -- 'STEAM' for short.  In 2016 the demand from schools and agencies was greater than ever.  In some cases, with corporate help, we actually provided one hundred percent of a school's students with their basic supplies and backpacks. I was especially gratified by the response to our last minute push, when our generous donors answered the call for over 3,000 additional backpacks and supplies."
